Description
Blue has been the colour of Varanasi’s sky since the time of the Mughals — and this Pure Banarasi Silk Saree in Blue carries all of that history in its threads. Woven from 100% pure mulberry silk on traditional pit looms in the heart of Varanasi, this saree is a living testament to India’s most celebrated weaving tradition.
The heart of this saree is its all-over handwoven gold zari brocade weaving — real gold metallic threads interlaced directly into the pure silk body during the weaving process itself, not added through embroidery or printing. The beautiful features include gold work, compact weaving, figures with small details, metallic visual effects, pallu, jaal, and meenakari work — Banarasi silk sarees are made of masterfully woven silk decorated with intricate floral designs and engravings. IndyVogue Traditional Mughal-inspired motifs — paisleys, lotuses, and floral vines — are scattered across the deep blue body in shimmering gold, each motif a tiny universe of craftsmanship.
This splendid masterpiece is made using the finest Kadhua technique — the most laborious and ponderous artistic tradition of Banaras — involving 89 hours of brilliance and sheer endeavour of skilled artisans. Kosala The striking gold zari pallu completes the saree with a flourish of grandeur. Since this saree is entirely handwoven, natural variations in colour, texture, and weave are part of its living beauty — no two pieces are exactly alike. Comes with a coordinating unstitched blouse piece. Dry clean only. Store in breathable muslin cloth away from sunlight and perfume.
